American College of Surgeons, Committee on Trauma Call for Nomination

The OTA needs members to become involved with the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma (COT) orthopaedic specialty section. The initial appointment is for
three years with an opportunity for a single reappointment for a second three year term.
Please notify Kathleen Caswell if you would like to be nominated to membership to the COT.
If you have questions about the opportunity, the home office can connect you
with the current orthopaedic members who can provide you details of the

Distinguished Visiting Scholar Program - Volunteers Needed!
The conflict is ongoing and you can make an important contribution
in the care of wounded soldiers, sailors, Marines, and airmen
by volunteering for the Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program.
Our NEW requirements are:
1) Trauma practice with a minimum of 5 years following board
certification
2) Demonstrated interest in teaching
3) Willingness to serve
A typical duration is 2 weeks.

International Education Initiatives

Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon Volunteers Needed
for 2 & 4 week assignments in Ghana. This Orthopaedics
Overseas / HVO Program began in November 2010 as a joint
effort with
OTA and AAOS to support the new Orthopaedic & Trauma
residency at Komfo
Anokye
Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana. Volunteers
are actively involved in clinical care, teaching, and
supporting the three local faculty members in a busy trauma

- International Course Faculty (the International
Relations Project Team will maintain a list of volunteers
to be used as future courses are scheduled.)

colleagues to participate in the Int'l Forum)
- SIGN Scholar Host (Volunteers are needed
to host SIGN scholars before/after the OTA Annual Meeting.
Hosts are requested to make lodging arrangements and cover
lodging fees).
